Quick question: what exactly do you remember the story of the four previous Underworld movies? If so, then Underworld: Blood Wars is a treat that is right for you. You must understand all the mythology and this is a sequel that you deserve. But if not, you are just like me; we will not miss much. Just remember this premise: Underworld is a film about the war between vampires and werewolves alias lycan; Twillight gothic version without a troubled romance.
If you've watched the movie Underworld, you've seen it all. Basically, the films of this franchise has a similar story. What distinguishes only the catalyst that caused the eternal war between the two races were inexplicably not yet extinct, but they had to kill each other for thousands of years-killing. My assumption, they diligently reproduce.
The catalyst this time is the blood of our main character, the vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) -now you know why the title "Blood War" - which is contested by the vampire and lycan for the purpose of each. As usual, the plot is not relevant where the plot points only aims to bring the action scenes, but nonetheless, this film still gives us too much exposition.
Having reminded again of what happened to Selene in 4 movies through flashback scenes, we learn that he was a fugitive and her son, she was in hiding. The crisis of war made an elder vampire, Semira (Lara Pulver) tried to convince the council to forgive vampire Selene and gave him a job to train young vampires against lycan.
To persuade Selene, Semira sent David (Theo James) with the support of his father, Thomas (Charles Dance). Selene agree and see this as an opportunity to clear his name. But there are many people who have a personal agenda. There are colleagues who turn into enemies, or opponents who turn into friends and I could not remember either their motives. So I'll just list the parties involved: Varga (Bradley James) and Alexia (Daisy Head) which is an accomplice Semira; Marius (Tobias Menzies), lycan leader; Lena (Clementine Nicholson), a vampire warrior of the Nordic Coven and God knows who else. The story changes direction each time through the twist without momentum as it runs on autopilot. The last thing you know, a big war going on between vampires with lycan.
The scene is a colossal peaks, or so at least I guess considering I could not see clearly what is happening, not only because the lighting is minimal but also because of the movement of the camera is so fast. Editing its selincah Beckinsale still looks sexy and dangerous in her black latex, with a quick cut and insert flashback truly "flash" (lightning). There is a bit of a wedge; vampire elders headquarters said last solid for hundreds of years but somehow it is not so difficult lycan assailed peak current scene, it seems easier than when the demo looting minimarket 4/11. Oh, and none of the normal human being who looks here. Could they fight in a parallel dimension?
The film was a big-screen debut for Anna Foerster, who previously exist in the world of television. At least he "managed" to keep the flavor of the film remains the same as previous films. He might be able to tell that special effects crews to work more diligently because CGI, it looks cheap and worse than the previous installation. Or it could also fire them.
